Ballpoint Army privacy
Last updated 2 October 2026. This covers the game at ballpointarmy.com and the Ballpoint Army app for iPhone and iPad, made by Squishy Intelligence Limited.
The short version
You don't sign up, and we never ask who you are. No accounts, no email addresses, no ads, no chat, and nothing anyone types is ever shown to anybody else. We keep only what the game needs to work.
What stays on your device
The game remembers a few things in your browser or the app, so it can pick up where you left off: a random player number (made up by the game, not linked to you), your generated player name (like "Scout Wobbly Pencil"), your best battle, whether the sound is on, and which news you've already seen. Clearing the app's data or your browser's storage wipes all of it, and you start fresh.
What our server keeps
- Challenge codes. When you make a code, we keep the army you drew, the map, your player number and your generated name, so friends can play it. When someone plays a code, we keep their army and who won, so the maker can watch the replay. So the maker can see how their throwdown is going, we also note when someone opens the link (shown to them only as a count) and when they accept it (then the maker sees their generated name). Codes stop working after 7 days and are deleted within 30 days after that.
- The ladder. If you save a defence army, we keep it with your player number, generated name and rating, and a record of the battles fought on the ladder, so others can attack you and the Top 10 works. Generated names and ratings are shown to other players.
- Game counts. We count things like "a battle started" or "blue won", with the mode, level and how long it took, so we can see which parts of the game get played and keep it balanced. These counts never include your player number or name.
What we don't do
We don't collect names, emails, phone numbers, contacts, photos, location or anything you type. We don't use advertising or tracking SDKs, we don't build profiles, and we never sell or share data with anyone for advertising.
Who else is involved
The game runs on Cloudflare, which handles the internet connection and, like any web host, sees IP addresses while delivering it (we use them only for a moment, to stop people spamming the server, and don't store them). On the website, Cloudflare Web Analytics counts page visits without cookies, and the handwriting fonts load from Google Fonts. The app has the fonts built in and doesn't use either.
Kids
Ballpoint Army is played by people of all ages, including kids. That's why there are no accounts, no chat, no typed names and no personal information: there's nothing personal to collect.
Deleting your data
Everything on your device goes when you delete the app or clear the browser's storage. To have your ladder entry or challenge codes removed from the server, email us with your player name (it's on the menu, under "You are") and we'll delete them.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes we'll update this page and the date at the top. Questions: support@ballpointarmy.com.
